Importing Tips
Tips for dealers importing LED lights directly from Chinese factories
5 steps to safely importing factory-direct LED lights from China: choosing product groups, checking samples, CO/CQ documents and official import shipping to Vietnam.

Importing LED lights directly from Chinese factories gives dealers ex-factory prices, more control over designs and better quality control than buying through multiple middle layers. However, to import safely and profitably, you need to prepare carefully for the few things below.
Why import LED lights factory-direct?
When you buy through wholesalers, every middle layer adds its own margin to the price. Buying direct from the factory helps dealers:
- Ex-factory prices and volume-based discounts
- Choose models from the catalogue and order custom logo printing & private-label packaging
- Receive samples, plus inspection photos and videos of every batch before shipment
- Warranty handled directly with the manufacturer for faster resolution
5 steps to importing LED lights from China safely
- Identify the best-selling product groups in your area: factory lights, floodlights, solar lights, tubes...
- Send your model list and quantities to get a factory quotation and catalogue
- Order samples and check actual wattage, brightness, color temperature, housing and driver quality
- Sign the contract, agree on packaging specs, Vietnamese labels and delivery time
- Receive photos/videos of the shipment before dispatch, official import shipping to your warehouse
What should you check when you receive samples?
Don't judge by appearance alone. A good LED light depends largely on the components inside:
- LED chips and luminous flux: lights of the same wattage can differ widely in brightness (lumens)
- Driver (power supply): determines lifespan, stability and flicker
- Heat dissipation: a thick aluminum housing and good heatsink fins make lights last longer under continuous use
- IP waterproof rating for outdoor lights – see our article what IP65 and IP66 ratings mean
Documents and official-import shipping
Official imports require a contract, commercial invoice and packing list. CO Form E lets the goods enjoy preferential tariffs under the ASEAN – China agreement, while the CQ certifies quality for project acceptance. Goods can be shipped by road through the Lang Son border gate (faster) or by sea to Hai Phong or Ho Chi Minh City (suitable for container orders).
Tip: new dealers should start with a trial order mixing several models in one shipment to test the market before ordering in bulk.
